Easter weekend I was in Seattle for SakuraCon, and had the chance to meet Enfu - one of my favorite illustrators - in the artists' alley. He's recently designed a new shopping bag for Uwajimaya, and all the tiny details put into each food item really got me inspired. I ended up flipping through some of my cookbooks and decided to draw a bowl of wonton asparagus soup, trying to focus on all the details of the ingredients.
The original soup photo this drawing is based on is taken from, "Asian Soups: The Essential Kitchen," published by Periplus. This is traditionally drawn with Copic Multiliner pens and colored with Tria and Copic markers.
